Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take the pre-dawn meal, for in the pre-dawn meal there is blessing." Agreed upon.
٢٢١ - باب فضل السحور وتأخيره ما لم يخش طلوع الفجر
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take the pre-dawn meal, for in the pre-dawn meal there is blessing." Agreed upon.
Zayd ibn Thābit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We took the pre-dawn meal with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then we rose for the prayer. It was asked: How long was there between the two? He said: The measure of fifty verses. Agreed upon.
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had two muezzins, Bilāl and Ibn Umm Maktūm. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Bilāl gives the call to prayer at night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktūm gives the call." He said: There was no more between the two than that one would come down and the other go up. Agreed upon.
ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The distinction between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is the meal taken before dawn." Narrated by Muslim.
