٣٥٧ - باب النهي عن الإشارة إلى مسلم بسلاح ونحوه، سواء كان جادا أو مازحا، والنهي عن تعاطي السيف مسلولا

Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: "None of you should point a weapon at his brother, for he does not know — perhaps Satan may make it slip from his hand, and so he would fall into a pit of the Fire." Agreed upon. In a narration of Muslim he said: Abū al-Qāsim ﷺ said: "Whoever points at his brother with a piece of iron, the angels curse him until he desists, even if he be his brother by his father and mother." His ﷺ saying "yanziʿu": it is vowelled with the undotted ʿayn and a kasra on the zāy (yanziʿu), and with the dotted ghayn and a fatḥa on it (yanzaghu); the two meanings are close. Its meaning with the undotted letter is "he throws", and with the dotted letter likewise "he throws and corrupts". The root of al-nazʿ is stabbing and causing corruption.

Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that a sword be passed around while drawn. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."
