١٩٦ - باب تأكيد ركعتي سنة الصبح

From ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet ﷺ would never omit four rakʿahs before Ẓuhr and two rakʿahs before the dawn prayer. Narrated by al-Bukhārī.

And from her, she said: The Prophet ﷺ was not more diligent in keeping up any of the voluntary prayers than he was with the two rakʿahs of Fajr. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).

And from her, from the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "The two rakʿahs of Fajr are better than the world and all that is in it." Narrated by Muslim. In another narration: "They are dearer to me than the whole world."

And from Abū ʿAbd Allāh Bilāl ibn Rabāḥ (may Allah be pleased with him), the muezzin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: that he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to call him to the dawn prayer, but ʿĀʾishah kept Bilāl occupied with a matter she was asking him about, until it had become broad daylight. So Bilāl stood up and announced the prayer to him, and repeated his call to prayer, yet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come out. When he did come out, he led the people in prayer, and [Bilāl] informed him that ʿĀʾishah had kept him occupied with a matter she was asking him about until it had become broad daylight, and that this was why he had been late in coming out to him. He — meaning the Prophet ﷺ — then said: "I had prayed the two rakʿahs of Fajr." [Bilāl] said: "O Messenger of Allah, it had already become broad daylight!" He said: "Even if it had become far more daylight than it did, I would still have prayed them, and prayed them well and beautifully." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a good (ḥasan) chain.
