Hadith1678
﵄: - ﷺ -
From Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «Those who make these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection; it will be said to them: Bring to life what you created.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
Hadith1679
﵂، - ﷺ - - ﷺ -
From ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, and I had screened a niche for myself with a curtain that had images on it. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, his face changed colour, and he said: «O ʿĀʾishah, the people most severely punished by Allah on the Day of Resurrection are those who imitate the creation of Allah!» She said: We cut it up and made from it one or two cushions. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). «Al-qirām» with kasrah on the qāf is the curtain. «Al-sahwah» with fatḥah on the sīn is the dais that is before the house; and it is said: it is the recessed arch in the wall.
Hadith1680
﵄، - ﷺ -
From Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: «Every image-maker will be in the Fire; for every image he made a soul will be appointed that will punish him in Hell.» Ibn ʿAbbās said: If you must do so, then make trees and whatever has no soul in it. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
From him, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: «Whoever makes an image in this world will be charged to blow the soul into it on the Day of Resurrection, and he will not be able to do so.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
From Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: «The people most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection are the image-makers.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
From Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: «Allah the Exalted said: Who is more unjust than one who goes to create like My creation? Let them create a particle, or let them create a grain, or let them create a barley grain.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
From Abū Ṭalḥah (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
From Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: Jibrīl promised the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would come to him, and he was late until it weighed heavily upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); so he went out and Jibrīl met him, and he complained to him. He said: We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image. Recorded by al-Bukhārī. «Rāth»: he was late — with the interdental thāʾ.
From ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: Jibrīl (peace be upon him) promised the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to come to him at a certain hour; that hour came and he did not come to him. She said: He had a staff in his hand; he threw it from his hand while saying: «Allah does not break His promise, nor His messengers.» Then he turned, and there was a puppy under his bed. He said: «When did this dog enter?» I said: By Allah, I did not know of it. So he ordered that it be taken out; then Jibrīl came to him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «You promised me, and I sat waiting for you and you did not come to me.» He said: The dog that was in your house prevented me; we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image. Narrated by Muslim.
From Abū al-Hayyāj Ḥayyān ibn Ḥuṣayn, who said: ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Shall I not send you on what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me? That you leave no image without effacing it, and no raised grave without levelling it. Narrated by Muslim.
