Allah the Exalted said:
رياض الصالحينAbū Zakariyyā Muḥyī al-Dīn Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī٢١٤ - باب فضل قيام ليلة القدر وبيان أرجى لياليها
٢١٤ - باب فضل قيام ليلة القدر وبيان أرجى لياليها
Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree.
…to the end of the sūrah. And He, the Exalted, said:
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night.1 Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].

وعن أَبي هريرة - ﵁ - عن النبيِّ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ إيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "Whoever stands [in prayer] on the Night of Decree out of faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
وعن ابن عمر ﵄: أنَّ رِجالًا مِنْ أصْحَابِ النبيِّ - ﷺ - أُرُوا لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ في المَنَامِ في السَّبْعِ الأَوَاخِرِ، فَقَالَ رسول الله - ﷺ: «أرَى رُؤْيَاكُمْ قَدْ تَوَاطَأتْ في السَّبْعِ الأوَاخِرِ، فَمَنْ كَانَ مُتَحَرِّيهَا فَلْيَتَحَرَّهَا في السَّبْعِ الأَوَاخِرِ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that some men from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ were shown the Night of Decree in a dream as being among the last seven nights. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I see that your dreams agree upon the last seven nights, so whoever seeks it out, let him seek it in the last seven nights." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
وعن عائشة ﵂، قالت: كَانَ رسولُ الله - ﷺ - يُجَاوِرُ في العَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، ويقول: «تَحَرَّوا لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ في العَشْرِ الأوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضانَ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seclude himself [in iʿtikāf] during the last ten nights of Ramaḍān, and he would say: "Seek out the Night of Decree in the last ten nights of Ramaḍān." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
وعنها ﵂: أنَّ رسولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «تَحَرَّوْا لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ في الوَتْرِ مِنَ العَشْرِ الأوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ». رواه البخاري.
She (may Allah be pleased with her) also reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Seek out the Night of Decree among the odd nights of the last ten of Ramaḍān." Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
وعنها، ﵂، قالت: كَانَ رسول الله - ﷺ - إِذَا دَخَلَ العَشْرُ الأَوَاخِرُ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، أحْيَا اللَّيْلَ، وَأيْقَظَ أهْلَهُ، وَجَدَّ وَشَدَّ المِئزَرَ . متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
She (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the last ten nights of Ramaḍān entered, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would spend the night in worship, wake his family, exert himself, and tighten his waist-wrapper. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
وعنها، قالت: كَانَ رسولُ اللهِ - ﷺ - يَجْتَهِدُ في رَمَضَانَ مَا لاَ يَجْتَهِدُ في غَيْرِهِ، وَفِي العَشْرِ الأوَاخِرِ مِنْهُ مَا لا يَجْتَهِدُ في غَيْرِهِ. رواه مسلم.
She (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would strive hard in Ramaḍān as he would not strive at any other time, and in its last ten nights as he would not strive at any other time. Narrated by Muslim.
وعنها، قالت: قُلْتُ: يَا رسول الله، أرَأيْتَ إنْ عَلِمْتُ أيُّ لَيلَةٍ لَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ مَا أقُولُ فِيهَا؟ قَالَ: «قُولِي: اللَّهُمَّ إنَّكَ عَفُوٌ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنّي». رواه الترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن صحيح».
She (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me, if I come to know which night is the Night of Decree, what should I say during it?" He said: "Say: O Allah, You are Most Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith."
