On the authority of ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Ten things are part of the natural disposition (fiṭra): clipping the moustache, letting the beard grow, the tooth-stick, drawing water up into the nose, trimming the nails, washing the finger-joints, plucking the underarm hair, shaving the pubic region, and cleansing with water." The narrator said: I have forgotten the tenth, unless it was rinsing the mouth. Wakīʿ — one of its narrators — said: "Cleansing with water" means istinjāʾ (cleansing the private parts with water). Narrated by Muslim. "Al-barājim," with a single-dotted bāʾ and a jīm, are the creases of the finger-joints; and "letting the beard grow" means that one does not trim anything from it.
