١٥٨ - باب الإسراع بالجنازة

Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Hasten with the funeral bier, for if it is righteous, then it is a good thing towards which you are advancing it; and if it is otherwise, then it is an evil of which you are relieving your necks." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). In a narration of Muslim: "then it is a good thing to which you are advancing it."

Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ used to say: "When the funeral bier is set down and the men carry it upon their shoulders, if it is righteous it says, 'Take me forward!'; and if it is not righteous, it says to its family, 'Woe to it! Where are you taking it?' Every thing hears its voice except humankind, and were a human to hear it, he would fall down senseless." Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
