From Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Bilāl, "O Bilāl, tell me of the deed you have done in Islam for which you have the greatest hope, for I heard the footfall of your sandals ahead of me in Paradise." He replied, "I have done no deed for which I have greater hope than this: that I have never purified myself at any hour of night or day without praying with that purification as much as was decreed for me to pray." Agreed upon, and this is the wording of al-Bukhārī. "Al-daff," with the letter fāʾ, means the sound of the sandal and its movement upon the ground. And Allah knows best.
