٣٦٤ - باب تحريم استعمال إناء الذهب وإناء الفضة في الأكل والشرب والطهارة وسائر وجوه الاستعمال

On the authority of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The one who drinks from a vessel of silver is only gulping the fire of Hell into his belly." Agreed upon. In a version of Muslim's: "Indeed the one who eats or drinks from vessels of silver and gold."

On the authority of Ḥudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade us silk, brocade, and drinking from vessels of gold and silver, and he said: "They are for them [the disbelievers] in this world, and they are for you in the Hereafter." Agreed upon. In a version in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, from Ḥudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Do not wear silk or brocade, and do not drink from vessels of gold and silver, and do not eat from their dishes."

On the authority of Anas ibn Sīrīn, who said: I was with Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) at the home of a group of Magians, and a sweet dish (fālūdhaj) was brought on a vessel of silver, but he would not eat it. He was told: "Transfer it." So it was transferred onto a vessel of khalanj and brought, and he ate it. Narrated by al-Bayhaqī with a good chain. "Al-khalanj" is a [large wooden] bowl.
