٣٥٦ - باب النهي عن إضاعة المال في غير وجوهه التي أذن الشرع فيها

It is related from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah the Exalted is pleased for you with three things, and He dislikes for you three things. He is pleased for you that you worship Him and associate nothing with Him, and that you hold fast all together to the rope of Allah and not be divided. And He dislikes for you: idle talk and gossip, asking too many questions, and squandering wealth." Reported by Muslim, and its explanation has preceded.

It is related from Warrād, the scribe of al-Mughīrah, who said: Al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah dictated to me in a letter to Muʿāwiyah (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet ﷺ used to say at the end of every prescribed prayer: "There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; His is the dominion, and His is all praise, and He is capable of all things. O Allah, none can withhold what You grant, and none can grant what You withhold, and the might of the mighty avails him nothing against You." And he wrote to him that the Prophet used to forbid idle talk and gossip, squandering wealth, and asking too many questions; and that he used to forbid disobedience to mothers, burying daughters alive, and withholding what is due while demanding what is not one's right.
