Hadith824

﵄، - ﷺ:

On the authority of Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Let none of you make a man get up from his seat and then sit in it himself; rather, make room and spread out." And Ibn ʿUmar, when a man would rise for him from his seat, would not sit in it. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).

And on the authority of Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you rises from a sitting-place and then returns to it, he has the better right to it." Narrated by Muslim.

Hadith826

﵄، - ﷺ -

And on the authority of Jābir ibn Samura (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: Whenever we came to the Prophet ﷺ, each of us would sit where the seating ended. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."

Hadith827

وعن أَبي عبد الله سَلْمَان الفارسي - ﵁ - قَالَ: قَالَ رسول الله - ﷺ: «لاَ يَغْتَسِلُ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَيَتَطهَّرُ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ طُهْرٍ، وَيَدَّهِنُ مِنْ دُهْنِهِ، أَوْ يَمَسُّ مِنْ طِيب بَيْتِهِ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَلاَ يُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ اثْنَينِ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي مَا كُتِبَ لَهُ، ثُمَّ يُنْصِتُ إِذَا تَكَلَّمَ الإمَامُ، إِلاَّ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الجُمُعَةِ الأُخْرَى». رواه البخاري.

And on the authority of Abū ʿAbd Allāh Salmān al-Fārisī (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No man bathes on Friday, purifies himself as much as he is able, anoints himself with his oil, or touches some of the perfume of his house, then goes out and does not part two people, then prays what is prescribed for him, then keeps silent when the imam speaks — except that he is forgiven what is between him and the next Friday." Narrated by al-Bukhārī.

Hadith828

وعن عمرو بن شُعَيْب، عن أبيهِ، عن جَدِّهِ - ﵁: أنَّ رسول الله - ﷺ - قَالَ: «لاَ يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ إِلاَّ بإذْنِهِمَا». رواه أَبُو داود والترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن». وفي رواية لأبي داود: «لاَ يُجْلسُ بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ إِلاَّ بِإذْنِهِمَا».

And on the authority of ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It is not lawful for a man to part two people except with their permission." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith." And in a narration of Abū Dāwūd: "Let no one sit between two men except with their permission."

Hadith829

وعن حذيفة بن اليمان - ﵁: أنَّ رسول الله - ﷺ - لَعَنَ مَنْ جَلَسَ وَسَطَ الحَلْقَةِ. رواه أَبُو داود بإسنادٍ حسن. وروى الترمذي عن أبي مِجْلَزٍ: أنَّ رَجُلًا قَعَدَ وَسَطَ حَلْقَةٍ، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: مَلْعُونٌ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ - ﷺ - أَوْ لَعَنَ اللهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ - ﷺ - مَنْ جَلَسَ وَسَطَ الحَلْقَةِ. قَالَ الترمذي: «حديث حسن صحيح».

And on the authority of Hudhayfa ibn al-Yamān (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed whoever sits in the middle of a circle. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a good chain. And al-Tirmidhī narrated from Abū Mijlaz: that a man sat in the middle of a circle, so Hudhayfa said: "Cursed upon the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ" — or: "Allah has cursed, upon the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ, whoever sits in the middle of the circle." Al-Tirmidhī said: "A good, sound hadith."

Hadith830

وعن أَبي سعيدٍ الخدريِّ - ﵁ - قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رسول الله - ﷺ - يقول: «خَيْرُ المَجَالِسِ أوْسَعُهَا». رواه أَبُو داود بإسنادٍ صحيح عَلَى شرط البخاري.

And on the authority of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "The best of gatherings are the most spacious." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain meeting the conditions of al-Bukhārī.

Hadith831

وعن أَبي هريرة - ﵁ - قَالَ: قَالَ رسول الله - ﷺ: «مَنْ جَلَسَ في مَجْلِسٍ، فَكَثُرَ فِيهِ لَغَطُهُ فَقَالَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقُومَ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ ذَلِكَ:، إِلاَّ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا كَانَ في مَجْلِسِهِ ذَلِكَ». رواه الترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن صحيح».

And on the authority of Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever sits in a gathering in which his idle talk is much, then says, before he rises from that sitting-place of his: [the supplication of expiation] — he is forgiven what occurred in that sitting-place of his." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good, sound hadith." [review: the supplication text is elided in the source matn]

Hadith832

وعن أَبي بَرْزَة - ﵁ - قَالَ: كَانَ رسول الله - ﷺ - يقولُ بأَخَرَةٍ إِذَا أرَادَ أَنْ يَقُومَ مِنَ الْمَجْلِسِ: فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رسولَ الله، إنَّكَ لَتَقُولُ قَوْلًا مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُهُ فِيمَا مَضَى؟ قَالَ: «ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا يَكُونُ في المَجْلِسِ». رواه أَبُو داود، ورواه الحاكم أَبُو عبد الله في «المستدرك» من رواية عائشة ﵂ وقال: «صحيح الإسناد» .

And on the authority of Abū Barza (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: In his later days, whenever he wished to rise from the gathering, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: [a supplication]. A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, you say a saying you did not used to say before." He said: "That is an expiation for what occurs in the gathering." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd; and al-Hākim Abū ʿAbd Allāh narrated it in al-Mustadrak from the narration of ʿĀʾisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and said: "Sound of chain." Hadith833

وعن ابن عمر ﵄، قَالَ: قَلَّمَا كَانَ رسول الله - ﷺ - يَقُومُ مِنْ مَجْلِسٍ حَتَّى يَدْعُوَ بِهؤلاء الدَّعَواتِ: «اللَّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنَا مِنْ خَشْيَتِكَ مَا تَحُولُ بِهِ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ مَعَاصِيكَ، وَمِنْ طَاعَتِكَ مَا تُبَلِّغُنَا بِهِ جَنَّتَكَ، وَمِنَ الْيَقِينِ مَا تُهَوِّنُ عَلَيْنَا مَصَائِبَ الدُّنْيَا، اللَّهُمَّ مَتِّعْنَا بأسْمَاعِنا، وَأَبْصَارِنَا، وقُوَّتِنَا مَا أحْيَيْتَنَا، وَاجْعَلْهُ الوارثَ مِنَّا، وَاجْعَلْ ثَأرَنَا عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنَا، وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى مَنْ عَادَانَا، وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ مُصيبَتَنَا فِي دِينِنَا، وَلاَ تَجْعَلِ الدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرَ هَمِّنَا، وَلاَ مَبْلَغَ عِلْمِنَا، وَلاَ تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ لاَ يَرْحَمُنَا». رواه الترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن».

And on the authority of Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: Seldom would the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rise from a gathering without supplicating with these supplications: "O Allah, apportion for us of fear of You that which comes between us and disobedience of You; and of obedience to You that which conveys us to Your Paradise; and of certainty that which makes light for us the calamities of this world. O Allah, let us enjoy our hearing, our sight, and our strength as long as You keep us alive, and make it the inheritor from us; and place our retaliation upon whoever wrongs us; and aid us against whoever shows enmity to us; and do not place our affliction in our religion; and do not make this world our greatest concern, nor the limit of our knowledge; and do not give power over us to one who will not show us mercy." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."

Hadith834

وعن أَبي هريرة - ﵁ - قَالَ: قَالَ رسول الله - ﷺ: «مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يَقُومُونَ مِنْ مَجْلِسٍ لاَ يَذْكُرُونَ الله تَعَالَى فِيهِ، إِلاَّ قَامُوا عَنْ مِثْل جِيفَةِ حِمَارٍ، وَكَانَ لَهُمْ حَسْرَةٌ». رواه أَبُو داود بإسنادٍ صحيح.

And on the authority of Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are no people who rise from a gathering in which they did not remember Allah the Exalted, except that they rise from the like of a donkey's carcass, and it will be a source of regret for them." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain.

Hadith835

وعنه، عن النبيِّ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَا جَلَسَ قَوْمٌ مَجْلِسًا لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا الله تَعَالَى فِيهِ، وَلَمْ يُصَلُّوا عَلَى نَبِيِّهِمْ فِيهِ، إِلاَّ كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ تِرَةٌ؛ فَإنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُمْ، وَإنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُمْ». رواه الترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن».

And on his authority, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "No people sit in a gathering in which they do not remember Allah the Exalted, nor invoke blessings upon their Prophet in it, except that it is a deficiency against them; so if He wills He punishes them, and if He wills He forgives them." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."

Hadith836

وعنه، عن رسول الله - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَنْ قَعَدَ مَقْعَدًا لَمْ يَذْكُر الله تَعَالَى فِيهِ كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ اللهِ تِرَةٌ، وَمَنْ اضْطَجَعَ مَضْجَعًا لاَ يَذْكُرُ الله تَعَالَى فِيهِ كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ اللهِ تِرَةٌ». رواه أَبُو داود. وَقَدْ سبق قريبًا، وشَرَحْنَا «التِّرَة» فِيهِ.

And from him (the same Companion), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: "Whoever sits in a sitting in which he does not remember Allah the Exalted, there will be against him a deficiency (tirah) from Allah; and whoever lies down in a resting place in which he does not remember Allah the Exalted, there will be against him a deficiency from Allah." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd. This has already been mentioned a little earlier, and we explained "al-tirah" there.
