Allah, the Exalted, has said:
رياض الصالحينAbū Zakariyyā Muḥyī al-Dīn Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī٣٩ - باب حق الجار والوصية به

ۖ
Worship Allāh and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side,1 the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allāh does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful,
﵄، - ﷺ:
On the authority of Ibn ʿUmar and ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with them), who both said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Gabriel kept on enjoining me concerning the neighbour, until I thought he would make him an heir." Agreed upon.
وعن أَبي ذر - ﵁ - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُول الله - ﷺ: «يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ، إِذَا طَبَخْتَ مَرَقَةً، فَأكثِرْ مَاءَهَا، وَتَعَاهَدْ جِيرَانَكَ». رواه مسلم. وفي رواية لَهُ عن أَبي ذر، قَالَ: إنّ خليلي - ﷺ - أوْصَاني: «إِذَا طَبَخْتَ مَرَقًا فَأكْثِرْ مَاءها، ثُمَّ انْظُرْ أَهْلَ بَيْتٍ مِنْ جِيرَانِكَ، فَأَصِبْهُمْ مِنْهَا بِمعرُوفٍ».
On the authority of Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O Abū Dharr, when you cook a broth, add plenty of water to it, and look after your neighbours." Muslim narrated it. And in another of his narrations, on the authority of Abū Dharr, who said: My dear friend (ﷺ) enjoined me: "When you cook a broth, add plenty of water to it, then look to a household among your neighbours and give them some of it in a goodly manner."
وعن أَبي هريرة - ﵁: أن النَّبيّ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «واللهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ!» قِيلَ: مَنْ يَا رَسُول الله؟ قَالَ: «الَّذِي لاَ يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ!». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيهِ. وفي رواية لمسلم: «لا يَدْخُلُ الجَنَّةَ مَنْ لاَ يَأمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ». «البَوَائِقُ»: الغَوَائِلُ والشُّرُورُ.
On the authority of Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "By Allah, he does not believe! By Allah, he does not believe! By Allah, he does not believe!" It was asked: Who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "The one whose neighbour is not safe from his mischief!" Agreed upon. And in a narration of Muslim: "He will not enter Paradise whose neighbour is not safe from his mischief." "Al-bawāʾiq" means harms and evils.
وعنه، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُول الله - ﷺ: «يَا نِسَاء المُسْلِمَاتِ، لاَ تَحْقِرَنَّ جَارةٌ لِجَارَتِهَا وَلَوْ فِرْسِنَ شَاة». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيهِ.
On his authority, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O Muslim women, let no woman neighbour disdain (a gift) for her woman neighbour, even if it be the trotter of a sheep." Agreed upon.
وعنه: أن رَسُول الله - ﷺ - قَالَ: «لاَ يَمْنَعْ جَارٌ جَارَهُ أَنْ يَغْرِزَ خَشَبَةً في جِدَارِهِ»، ثُمَّ يقُولُ أَبُو هريرة: مَا لِي أرَاكُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضينَ! وَاللهِ لأرْمِيَنَّ بِهَا بَيْنَ أكْتَافِكُمْ. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيهِ. رُوِيَ «خَشَبَهُ» بالإضَافَة وَالجمع. وَرُويَ «خَشَبَةً» بالتنوين عَلَى الإفرادِ. وقوله: مَا لي أراكم عَنْهَا مُعْرِضينَ: يَعْني عَنْ هذِهِ السُّنَّة.
On his authority: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Let no neighbour prevent his neighbour from fixing a wooden beam into his wall." Then Abū Hurayrah would say: Why do I see you turning away from it? By Allah, I shall keep casting it upon your shoulders (pressing it upon you). Agreed upon. It was narrated as "khashabahu" in the possessive (iḍāfah) and the plural, and it was narrated as "khashabatan" with tanwīn in the singular. And his saying, "Why do I see you turning away from it," means: from this Sunnah.
وعنه: أن رَسُول الله - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بالله وَاليَومِ الآخرِ، فَلاَ يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ باللهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ باللهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيهِ.
On his authority: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or remain silent." Agreed upon.
وعن أَبي شُرَيْح الخُزَاعيِّ - ﵁: أن النَّبيّ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤمِنُ بِاللهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ باللهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَاليَومِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ». رواه مسلم بهذا اللفظ، وروى البخاري بعضه.
On the authority of Abū Shurayḥ al-Khuzāʿī (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be good to his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or remain silent." Muslim narrated it in this wording, and al-Bukhārī narrated part of it.
وعن عائشة ﵂، قَالَت: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُول الله، إنَّ لِي جارَيْنِ، فإلى أيِّهِمَا أُهْدِي؟ قَالَ: «إِلَى أَقْرَبِهِمَا مِنكِ بَابًا». رواه البخاري.
On the authority of ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have two neighbours; to which of the two shall I send a gift? He said: "To the one whose door is nearer to you." Al-Bukhārī narrated it.
وعن عبدِ الله بن عمر ﵄، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُول الله - ﷺ: «خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ الله تَعَالَى خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ، وَخَيرُ الجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ الله تَعَالَى خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ». رواه الترمذي، وَقالَ: «حديث حسن».
On the authority of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The best of companions in the sight of Allah, the Exalted, is the best of them to his companion; and the best of neighbours in the sight of Allah, the Exalted, is the best of them to his neighbour." Al-Tirmidhī narrated it and said: "A good (ḥasan) ḥadīth."
