رياض الصالحينAbū Zakariyyā Muḥyī al-Dīn Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī١٥٥ - باب الصلاة على الميت وتشييعه وحضور دفنه، وكراهة اتباع النساء الجنائز، وقد سبق فضل التشييع.
On the authority of Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «Whoever attends the funeral until the prayer is offered over it has one qīrāṭ, and whoever attends it until it is buried has two qīrāṭs.» It was asked: And what are the two qīrāṭs? He said: «Like the two great mountains.» Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
And on his authority: that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «Whoever follows the funeral of a Muslim out of faith and seeking reward, and remains with it until the prayer is offered over it and its burial is completed, returns with two qīrāṭs of the reward, each qīrāṭ like [Mount] Uḥud; and whoever prays over it, then returns before it is buried, returns with one qīrāṭ.» Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
And on the authority of Umm ʿAṭiyya (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: We were forbidden from following funeral processions, but it was not made binding upon us. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). Its meaning is: the prohibition was not pressed strictly, as is pressed in the case of forbidden matters.
