٣١٩ - باب كراهة أن يسأل الإنسان بوجه الله - ﷿ - غير الجنة، وكراهة منع من سأل بالله تعالى وتشفع به
From Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nothing is to be asked for by the Face of Allah except Paradise." Narrated by Abu Dawud.
From Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks refuge in Allah, grant him refuge; whoever asks in the name of Allah, give to him; whoever invites you, respond to him; and whoever does you a kindness, repay him. But if you find nothing with which to repay him, then supplicate for him until you are sure that you have indeed repaid him." A sound hadith, narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Nasaʾi with the chains of the two Sahihs.
