٣٢٣ - باب النهي عن سب الريح، وبيان ما يقال عند هبوبها

Abū al-Mundhir Ubayy ibn Kaʿb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not revile the wind; rather, when you see what you dislike, say: O Allah, we ask You for the good of this wind, the good of what is in it, and the good of what it was commanded to bring; and we seek refuge in You from the evil of this wind, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it was commanded to bring.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: “A good and sound ḥadīth.”

Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “The wind is from the mercy of Allah; it brings mercy and it brings punishment. So when you see it, do not revile it; rather, ask Allah for its good and seek refuge with Allah from its evil.” Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a good chain. His saying ﷺ “from rawḥ of Allah” is with a fatḥah on the rāʼ, meaning His mercy to His servants.

ʿĀʼishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the wind blew strongly, the Prophet ﷺ would say: “O Allah, I ask You for its good, the good of what is in it, and the good of what it was sent with; and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it was sent with.” Narrated by Muslim.
