9 - Chapter on reflecting upon the magnitude of the creations of Allah Most High, the perishing of this world, the terrors of the Hereafter, and all the affairs of the two; and on curbing the soul, refining it, and holding it to steadfastness.
٩ - باب في التفكر في عظيم مخلوقات الله تعالى وفناء الدنيا وأهوال الآخرة وسائر أمورهما وتقصير النفس وتهذيبها وحملها على الاستقامة
9 - Chapter on reflecting upon the magnitude of the creations of Allah Most High, the perishing of this world, the terrors of the Hereafter, and all the affairs of the two; and on curbing the soul, refining it, and holding it to steadfastness.
Allah Most High said:
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allāh, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.
And He Most High said:
And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve.1
the verses [Āl ʿImrān: 190–191]. And He Most High said:
Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?
And He Most High said:
Yā, Seen.1
the verse [Muḥammad (al-Qitāl): 10]. The verses on this topic are many.
And among the hadiths is the one mentioned earlier: "The prudent person is the one who calls his soul to account."
