٢٠٠ - باب سنة العصر

From ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet ﷺ used to pray four rakʿahs before the ʿAṣr prayer, separating between them with the salutation of peace upon the angels brought near to Allah and those who follow them from among the Muslims and the believers. Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."

From Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "May Allah have mercy on a man who prays four rakʿahs before the ʿAṣr prayer." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good (ḥasan) hadith."

And from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet ﷺ used to pray two rakʿahs before the ʿAṣr prayer. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain of transmission.
