١٧٩ - باب تحريم سفر المرأة وحدها

Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel a distance of a day and a night except with a maḥram (an unmarriageable male relative).” Agreed upon.

Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “No man should be alone with a woman unless she has a maḥram with her, and a woman should not travel except with a maḥram.” A man said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, my wife has set out to perform the Hajj, and I have been enrolled for such-and-such a military expedition.” He said: “Set out and perform the Hajj with your wife.” Agreed upon.
