On the authority of Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I prayed two rakʿahs with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the noon prayer (Dhuhr) and two rakʿahs after it. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
١٩٩ - باب سنة الظهر
On the authority of Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I prayed two rakʿahs with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the noon prayer (Dhuhr) and two rakʿahs after it. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
On the authority of ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her): that the Prophet ﷺ would never omit four rakʿahs before the noon prayer (Dhuhr). Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
And on her authority, she said: The Prophet ﷺ used to pray four rakʿahs in my house before the noon prayer (Dhuhr), then he would go out and lead the people in prayer, then come back in and pray two rakʿahs. He used to lead the people in the sunset prayer (Maghrib), then come in and pray two rakʿahs, and he would lead the people in the night prayer (ʿIshāʾ), then enter my house and pray two rakʿahs. Narrated by Muslim.
On the authority of Umm Ḥabībah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever observes regularly four rakʿahs before the noon prayer (Dhuhr) and four after it, Allah will forbid him to the Fire." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good and sound hadith (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ)."
On the authority of ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Sāʾib (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray four rakʿahs after the sun had passed its zenith, before the noon prayer (Dhuhr), and he said: "It is an hour in which the gates of heaven are opened, and I love that a righteous deed of mine should ascend during it." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good hadith (ḥasan)."
On the authority of ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her): that the Prophet ﷺ, whenever he did not pray four rakʿahs before the noon prayer (Dhuhr), would pray them after it. Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A good hadith (ḥasan)."
