١٤٧ - باب ما يقوله من أيس من حياته

On the authority of ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while he was leaning against me, saying: "O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me, and join me with the highest companionship." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).

And on her authority, she said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in the throes of death, with a vessel of water beside him into which he would put his hand and then wipe his face with the water, saying: "O Allah, help me through the agonies of death" — or "the pangs of death." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī.
