Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Prayer in congregation is more excellent than the prayer of a man alone by twenty-seven degrees." Agreed upon.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man's prayer in congregation is multiplied over his prayer in his house and in his marketplace twenty-five times over. That is because, when he performs the ablution and does it well, then sets out for the mosque with nothing taking him out but the prayer, he does not take a single step but that by it a degree is raised for him and a sin is wiped away from him. Then, when he prays, the angels do not cease to invoke blessings upon him so long as he remains at his place of prayer, as long as he has not broken his ablution; they say: O Allah, send blessings upon him; O Allah, have mercy on him. And he remains in a state of prayer for as long as he awaits the prayer." Agreed upon, and this is the wording of al-Bukhārī.

And from him (Abu Hurayrah) who said: A blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to lead me to the mosque. So he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant him a concession to pray in his house, and he granted it to him. But when he turned to leave, he called him back and said to him: "Do you hear the call to prayer?" He said: Yes. He said: "Then answer it." Muslim narrated it.
وعن عبدِ الله - وقيل: عَمْرو بن قَيسٍ - المعروف بابن أُمّ مكتوم المؤذن - ﵁ - أنَّه قَالَ: يا رَسُول اللهِ، إنَّ المَدينَةَ كَثيرةُ الهَوَامِّ وَالسِّبَاعِ. فَقَالَ رَسُول اللهِ - ﷺ: «تَسْمَعُ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلاةِ حَيَّ عَلَى الفَلاحِ، فَحَيَّهلًا» رَوَاهُ أبُو دَاوُدَ بإسناد حسن. ومعنى «حَيَّهَلًا »: تعال.
And from ʿAbdullah — and it is said: ʿAmr ibn Qays — known as Ibn Umm Maktūm the muezzin (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: O Messenger of Allah, Madina has many vermin and beasts of prey. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you hear 'Come to prayer, come to success'? Then come along." Abu Dawud narrated it with a good chain. And the meaning of "ḥayyahalā" is: come.
وعن أبي هريرة - ﵁: أنَّ رَسُول اللهِ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ بحَطَبٍ فَيُحْتَطَبَ، ثُمَّ آمُرَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَيُؤذَّنَ لهَا، ثُمَّ آمُرَ رَجُلًا فَيَؤُمَّ النَّاسَ، ثُمَّ أُخَالِفَ إلى رِجَالٍ فَأُحَرِّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ بُيُوتَهمْ». متفقٌ عَلَيهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I have certainly considered ordering firewood to be gathered, then ordering the prayer so that the call to it be made, then ordering a man to lead the people, and then slipping away to men [who stay away from the congregation] and burning their houses down upon them." Agreed upon.
وعن ابن مسعود - ﵁ - قَالَ: مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَلْقَى اللهَ تَعَالَى غدًا مُسْلِمًا، فَلْيُحَافِظْ عَلَى هؤُلاَءِ الصَّلَوَاتِ حَيْثُ يُنَادَى بِهِنَّ، فَإنَّ اللهَ شَرَعَ لِنَبِيِّكم - ﷺ - سُنَنَ الهُدَى، وَإنَّهُنَّ مِنْ سُنَنِ الهُدَى، وَلَوْ أنَّكُمْ صَلَّيْتُمْ في بُيُوتِكم كَمَا يُصَلِّي هذا المُتَخَلِّفُ فِي بَيْتِهِ لَتَرَكْتُمْ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ، وَلَوْ تَرَكْتُمْ سُنَّة نَبِيِّكُم لَضَلَلْتُمْ، وَلَقَدْ رَأيْتُنَا وَمَا يَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْهَا إلاَّ مُنَافِقٌ مَعْلُومُ النِّفَاقِ، وَلَقَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يُؤتَى بهِ، يُهَادَى بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ حَتَّى يُقَامَ في الصَّفِّ. رَوَاهُ مُسلِم. وفي رواية لَهُ قَالَ: إنّ رَسُول اللهِ - ﷺ - عَلَّمَنَا سُنَنَ الهُدَى؛ وإنَّ مِنْ سُنَنِ الهُدَى الصَّلاَةَ في المَسْجِدِ الَّذِي يُؤَذَّنُ فِيهِ.
Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever would be pleased to meet Allah Most High tomorrow as a Muslim, let him guard these prayers wherever the call to them is made, for Allah has laid down for your Prophet ﷺ the ways of guidance, and these [prayers] are among the ways of guidance. Were you to pray in your houses as this one who stays behind prays in his house, you would abandon the Sunna of your Prophet, and were you to abandon the Sunna of your Prophet you would go astray. I have certainly seen us, and none would stay away from it except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was well known; indeed a man would be brought, supported between two others, until he was made to stand in the row. Muslim narrated it. And in another narration from him he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught us the ways of guidance, and among the ways of guidance is prayer in the mosque in which the call to prayer is made.
وعن أبي الدرداء - ﵁ - قال: سمعت رَسُول اللهِ - ﷺ - يقول: «مَا مِنْ ثَلاثَةٍ فِي قَرْيةٍ، وَلاَ بَدْوٍ، لاَ تُقَامُ فِيهِمُ الصَّلاَةُ إلاَّ قَد اسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِم الشَّيْطَانُ. فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالجَمَاعَةِ، فَإنَّمَا يَأْكُلُ الذِّئْبُ مِنَ الغَنَمِ القَاصِيَة » رَوَاهُ أبُو دَاوُدَ بإسناد حسن .
Abu al-Dardāʾ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "There are no three men in a village or in open desert among whom the prayer is not established but that Satan has gained mastery over them. So hold fast to the congregation, for the wolf eats only the sheep that strays far from the flock." Abu Dawud narrated it with a good chain.
