Hadith1696

- ﵁: - ﷺ -

From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever hears a man calling out for a lost item in the mosque, let him say: 'May Allah not return it to you,' for the mosques were not built for this." Narrated by Muslim.

Hadith1697

- ﷺ -

And from him: that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see someone selling or buying in the mosque, say: 'May Allah not bring profit to your trade'; and when you see someone calling out for a lost item, say: 'May Allah not return it to you.'" Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, who said: "A good hadith."

Hadith1698

- ﵁: - ﷺ:

From Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him): that a man called out in the mosque, saying: "Who has called out for the red camel?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May you not find it! The mosques were built only for that for which they were built." Narrated by Muslim.

Hadith1699

وعن عمرو بن شعيب، عن أبيه، عن جدِّهِ - ﵁: أنَّ رسولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - نَهَى عَن الشِّراءِ والبَيْعِ في المَسْجِدِ، وَأنْ تُنْشَدَ فِيهِ ضَالَّةٌ؛ أَوْ يُنْشَدَ فِيهِ شِعْرٌ. رواه أَبُو داود والترمذي، وقال: «حديث حسن».

From ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade buying and selling in the mosque, and that a lost item be cried out for in it, or that poetry be recited in it. Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: "A good hadith."

Hadith1700

وعن السائبِ بن يزيد الصحابي - ﵁ - قَالَ: كُنْتُ في المَسْجِدِ فَحَصَبَنِي رَجُلٌ، فَنَظَرْتُ فَإذَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الخَطَّابِ - ﵁ - فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَأتِنِي بِهذَينِ، فَجِئْتُهُ بِهِمَا، فَقَالَ: مِنْ أيْنَ أَنْتُمَا؟ فَقَالاَ: مِنْ أهْلِ الطَّائِفِ، فَقَالَ: لَوْ كُنْتُمَا مِنْ أهْلِ البَلَدِ، لأَوْجَعْتُكُمَا، تَرْفَعَانِ أصْوَاتَكُمَا في مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ الله - ﷺ! رواه البخاري.

From al-Saʾib ibn Yazid the Companion (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I was in the mosque when a man threw a pebble at me. I looked, and there was ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "Go and bring me these two." So I brought them to him, and he said: "Where are you two from?" They said: "From the people of al-Taʾif." He said: "Had you two been from the people of this town, I would have given you a painful blow — raising your voices in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" Narrated by al-Bukhari.
