From Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Do not leave the fire burning in your houses when you sleep." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
From Abu Musa al-Ashʿari (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: A house in Medina burned down upon its occupants during the night. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was told about their case, he said: "This fire is indeed an enemy to you; so when you sleep, put it out." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
From Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Cover the vessel, tie up the waterskin, shut the doors, and put out the lamp; for Satan does not untie a waterskin, nor open a door, nor uncover a vessel. If one of you finds nothing but to lay a stick across his vessel and mention the name of Allah, let him do so; for the little corrupting creature may set the people's house ablaze upon them." Narrated by Muslim. "al-fuwaysiqah": the mouse; "tuḍrim": it burns.
