Hadith1004

- ﵁ - - ﷺ -

On the authority of Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Allah has not listened to anything as He listens to a Prophet with a beautiful voice who recites the Qur'an melodiously, raising his voice with it." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). The meaning of "Allah listened (adhina)" is: He listened attentively, which is an indication of His pleasure and acceptance.

Hadith1005

- ﵁: - ﷺ - - ﷺ -

On the authority of Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "You have indeed been given one of the flutes of the family of David." Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). And in a narration of Muslim: that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Had you but seen me as I was listening to your recitation last night."

Hadith1006

﵄، - ﷺ -

On the authority of al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting "By the Fig and the Olive" in the ʿIshāʾ prayer, and I have never heard anyone with a more beautiful voice than his. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).

Hadith1007

وعن أَبي لُبَابَةَ بشير بن عبد المنذر - ﵁: أنَّ النبيَّ - ﷺ - قَالَ: «مَنْ لَمْ يَتَغَنَّ بِالقُرْآنِ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا». رواه أَبُو داود بإسنادٍ جيدٍ. معنى «يَتَغَنَّى»: يُحَسِّنُ صَوْتَهُ بِالقُرْآنِ.

On the authority of Abū Lubāba Bashīr ibn ʿAbd al-Mundhir (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever does not recite the Qur'an melodiously is not one of us." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd with a good chain. The meaning of "yataghannā" is: he beautifies his voice with the Qur'an.

Hadith1008

وعن ابن مسعودٍ - ﵁ - قَالَ: قَالَ لِي النَّبيُّ - ﷺ: «اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ القُرْآنَ»، فقلتُ: يَا رسولَ الله، أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ، وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ؟! قَالَ: «إنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي» فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ، حَتَّى جِئْتُ إِلَى هذِهِ الآية: ﴿فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا﴾ قَالَ: «حَسْبُكَ الآنَ» فَالْتَفَتُّ إِلَيْهِ، فَإذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ. متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

On the authority of Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet ﷺ said to me: "Recite the Qur'an to me." I said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite it to you, when it was revealed to you?! He said: "I love to hear it from someone other than myself." So I recited to him Sūrat al-Nisāʾ, until I reached this verse: "How then [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you as a witness against these?" He said: "Enough for you now." So I turned towards him, and behold, his eyes were overflowing with tears. Agreed upon (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
