٣٦٧ - باب تحريم انتساب الإنسان إلى غير أبيه وتوليه إلى غير مواليه

On the authority of Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever claims descent from someone other than his father, while knowing that he is not his father, Paradise is forbidden to him." Agreed upon.

And on the authority of Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (ﷺ), who said: "Do not turn away from your fathers, for whoever turns away from his father, that is an act of disbelief." Agreed upon.

And on the authority of Yazīd ibn Sharīk ibn Ṭāriq, who said: I saw ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, and I heard him say: "No, by Allah, we have no book that we read except the Book of Allah and what is in this scroll" — and he unrolled it, and in it were the ages of camels [due as blood-money] and some matters of compensation for wounds. And in it: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Medina is a sanctuary extending between ʿAyr and Thawr; whoever introduces into it an offence, or shelters an offender, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people; Allah will accept from him neither ṣarf nor ʿadl on the Day of Resurrection. The protection of the Muslims is one; the lowest of them may grant it; so whoever betrays a Muslim's grant of protection, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people; Allah will accept from him neither ṣarf nor ʿadl on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever claims descent from other than his father, or affiliates himself to other than his patrons, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people; Allah will accept from him neither ṣarf nor ʿadl on the Day of Resurrection." Agreed upon. "The protection (dhimmah) of the Muslims" means: their covenant and pledge of security. "Akhfarahu" means: he broke his covenant. "Al-ṣarf" means repentance — and it is said: a stratagem. "Al-ʿadl" means a ransom.

And on the authority of Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: "There is no man who claims descent from other than his father, while knowing it, but he has committed disbelief; and whoever claims what is not his, he is not of us, and let him take his seat in the Fire; and whoever calls a man a disbeliever, or says, 'Enemy of Allah,' when he is not so, it rebounds upon him." Agreed upon, and this is the wording of Muslim's narration.
