Allah, the Most High, said:
رياض الصالحينAbū Zakariyyā Muḥyī al-Dīn Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī٩٣ - باب الندب إلى إتيان الصلاة والعلم ونحوهما من العبادات بالسكينة والوقار
٩٣ - باب الندب إلى إتيان الصلاة والعلم ونحوهما من العبادات بالسكينة والوقار
That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols [i.e., rites] of Allāh - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.

And on the authority of Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: «When the prayer is called (the iqāmah is made), do not come to it while you are running; rather come to it walking, and keep to calmness. Whatever you catch, pray it, and whatever you miss, complete it.» Agreed upon. Muslim added in a narration of his: «For when one of you is heading deliberately to the prayer, he is (already) in prayer.»
وعن ابن عباس ﵄: أنَّهُ دَفَعَ مَعَ النَّبيِّ - ﷺ - يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَسَمِعَ النبيُّ - ﷺ - وَرَاءهُ زَجْرًا شَديدًا وَضَرْبًا وَصَوْتًا للإِبْلِ، فَأشَارَ بِسَوْطِهِ إلَيْهِمْ، وقال: «يَا أيُّهَا النَّاسُ، عَلَيْكُمْ بالسَّكِينَةِ، فَإنَّ الْبِرَّ لَيْسَ بالإيضَاعِ». رواه البخاري، وروى مسلم بعضه. «الْبِرُّ»: الطَّاعَةُ. وَ«الإيضَاعُ» بِضادٍ معجمةٍ قبلها ياءٌ وهمزةٌ مكسورةٌ، وَهُوَ: الإسْرَاعُ.
And on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both): that he set off together with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of ʿArafah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard behind him harsh driving (of the mounts), beating, and shouting at the camels, so he gestured towards them with his whip and said: «O people, keep to calmness, for righteousness does not lie in haste.» Al-Bukhārī narrated it, and Muslim narrated part of it. «Al-birr» (righteousness) means obedience. And «al-īḍāʿ» — spelt with a dotted ḍād, preceded by a yāʾ and a hamzah vowelled with a kasrah — means hastening (driving fast).
