محرمٌA muḥrim [who] قتلَhas killed صيداً[wild] game أوor سبعاً[a] beast of prey غيرother than صائل[while] attacking عمداًwilfully, أوor سهواًunwittingly, أوor عَوْداًby returning [[to] pursue it again], أوor بدءاًby initiating [[against] it] first, أوor دَلَّ[by] pointing it out towards عليه[concerning] it مَنone who قتلَهkilled it فعليهthen upon him [lies] قيمتهits valuation بقولِon the declaration عدلينof two just [witnesses] ويخَيَّرand he is given choice فيهاconcerning it بين:among: الهدي،hadī [sacrifice], والطعام،feeding [the needy], والصيام،fasting, ولوand if عَيَّبَhe blemishes الصيدَthe quarry ضَمِنَhe is liable for نقصانَه.its diminution in value.
A muḥrim who kills quarry or a beast of prey other than while it attacks—wilfully or in error, by returning upon it after leaving off, initiating [against it], or pointing it out to one who kills it—owes its valuation established by testimony of two just witnesses, and chooses therein among sacrificing a hadī animal, provisioning [the needy], or fasting (as known in the books); should he blemish quarry he is liable for its diminution.
