مَنwhoever عَجِزَwas unable عنfrom القيامِstanding صَلَّىprayed قاعداًseated يركعhe bows ويسجد.and prostrates.
Whoever is unable to stand prays seated, bowing and prostrating.

Chapter on the sick person
فإنif لمnot يطقcould الركوعَbowing والسجودَ،and prostration, أومأhe gestured قاعداًseated وجَعَلَand he made سجودَهhis prostration أَخفضَlower منthan ركوعه،his bowing, ولاand not يرفَعhe raises إلىtowards وجههhis face شيئاًanything يَسْجدto prostrate عليه.on it.
If he cannot bow or prostrate, he gestures seated, making prostration lower than bowing, and raises nothing to his face to prostrate on.
فإنif لمnot يطِقcould القعود،sitting, استلقىhe lay supine علىon ظهرهhis back وجعلand he placed رجليهhis two legs إلىtowards القبلة،the qibla, وأومأand he gestured بالركوعwith bowing والسجود،and prostration, أوor اضطجعhe reclined علىon جنبيهhis two sides متوجهاًfacing إليها،towards it, والأولand the former أَوْلى.likelier.
If he cannot sit, he lies on his back with feet towards the qibla and gestures bowing and prostration; or lies on his sides facing it—the former is likelier.
فإنif لمnot يطقcould الإيماءgesturing برأسه،with his head, أخَّرَhe delayed الصلاةَ،the prayer, ولمand did not تسقطdrop ماwhilst دامhe remained مفيقاً،conscious, ولاand not يومئhe gestures بغيرwith other than رأسه.his head.
If he cannot gesture with his head, he delays the prayer; it is not dropped while he is conscious; he does not gesture with other than his head.
وإنand if قدرَhe could علىfor القيامstanding لاnot علىfor الرّكوعbowing والسّجود،and prostration, صَلَّىhe prayed قاعداًseated يومئhe gestures بهما،with them, أوor قائماً،standing, والأَوّلand the former أولى.likelier.
If he can stand but not bow or prostrate, he prays seated gesturing them, or standing—the former is likelier.
ومَنand whoever مرضَfell ill فيin صلاتهhis prayer بنىhe built علىupon حسبaccording to ماwhat يقدر.he can.
Whoever falls ill during prayer builds according to his ability.
ومَنand whoever صَلَّىprayed قاعداً،seated, ثمthen صحَّhe recovered بنىhe built قائماً.standing.
Whoever prayed seated then recovered builds standing.
وإنand if صَلَّىhe prayed مومئاً،gesturing, ثمthen صحَّhe recovered فيهاduring it استقبل.he restarted.
If he prayed gesturing then recovers during it, he repeats.
ومَنand whoever جنَّwas insane أوor أغميhad unconsciousness عليهupon him يوماًa day وليلةً،and a night, قضىmade up بخلافcontrary to الأكثر.the majority.
Whoever is insane or unconscious a day and night makes up—against the majority on the insane case.
والنائمand the sleeper يقضيmakes up مطلقاً.without exception.
The sleeper always makes up.
ويقضيand makes up المريضthe sick person فائتةَmissed الصحّةِof health, علىupon حسبِaccording to حاله،his state, ويقضيand makes up الصحيحthe healthy person فائتةmissed المرضof illness كاملة.in full.
The sick person makes up what health missed according to his state; the healthy person makes up what illness missed in full.
