The dying person is turned towards the qibla on his right side; the shahāda is mentioned near him and he is not commanded with it.

Chapter on the deceased
When he dies he is washed, shrouded, and prayed over; if not prayed over in life, pray at his grave unless decay is preponderantly expected.
If he cried [at birth] he is washed, shrouded, and prayed over; if he did not cry he is washed, wrapped in a cloth, and not prayed over.
ولا يصلى على باغ، ولا قاطع طريق.
The rebel and highway robber are not prayed over.
والمشي خلف الجنازة أَفضل، ويطيل الصمت، ويكره رفع الصوت بالذكر، فإذا وصلوا إلى قبره كره الجلوس قبل وضعه عن الرقاب.
Walking behind the funeral is better; silence is lengthened; raising the voice with dhikr is disliked; when they reach the grave sitting before he is lowered from necks is disliked.
ويحفر القبر لحدا، ويدخل الميت فيه من جهة القبلة، ويضجَع على شقه الأيمن موجها إليها.
The grave is dug as a lahd; the deceased enters from the qibla side and is laid on his right side facing it.
ويكره البناء على القبر، ولا يدفن في القبر أكثر من واحدٍ إلا للضرورة، واتخاذ التابوت للمرأة حسن.
Building on the grave is disliked; more than one is not buried in a grave except for necessity; a bier for a woman is good.
