يمسحHe wipes المقيمthe resident منfrom الحَدَثِḥadath خاصّة:only: يوماًa day وليلة.and a night.
A resident wipes over [footgear] only for minor impurity (ḥadath): one day and one night.

Chapter on wiping over footgear (khuff)
والمسافر:And the traveller: ثلاثةthree أيّامdays ولياليهاand their nights منfrom وقتtime الحدث،of ḥadath, بشرطon condition لبسهhis wearing علىupon طهارةpurity كاملةcomplete عندat الحدث.ḥadath.
The traveller: three days and their nights from the time of ḥadath, on condition he put them on in full purity at the ḥadath.
ويجوزAnd permitted المسحwiping علىon خفٍّsock فوقover خفٍّ،sock, وعلىand on جرموقjarmūq فوقover خفٍّsock إنif لَبِسَهhe wore it قبلbefore الحدث.ḥadath.
Wiping over a sock atop a sock is permitted, and over a jarmūq atop a sock if he wore it before ḥadath.
[شروط[Conditions المسحfor wiping علىon الجورب]the sock] وعلىAnd on جوربsock لاnot يشف.it shows through.
[Conditions for wiping on socks] And on a sock that does not show [skin through it].
ويقفAnd it stands علىon الساقthe calf بلاwithout ربط.tying.
It stays up on the calf without tying.
ولوAnd if لمnot يكنit was مجلداً،leather-soled, أوor منعلاً.hobnailed.
Even if it is not leather-soled or hobnailed.
ولوAnd if سافرtravelled مقيمresident فيin مدته،his period, أتمّhe completes ثلاثة.three.
If a resident travels during his period, he completes three [days and nights].
ولوAnd if أقامsettled مسافرtraveller فيin مدته،his period, لمnot يزدhe increases علىon يومday وليلةand night منfrom حينtime مسح.of wiping.
If a traveller settles during his period, he does not increase beyond one day and one night from the time of wiping.
ويمسحAnd he wipes ظاهرouter الخفّ،of the sock, وأقلّهand its least قدرَextent ثلاثةِof three أصابعfingers منfrom أصابعthe fingers اليد.of the hand.
He wipes the upper surface of the sock, and the least is the extent of three fingers of the hand.
والخرقAnd the tear الكبيرlarge مانع:preventing: وهوand it [is] قدرextent ثلاثةof three منof أصغرsmallest أصابعfingers الرجل.of the foot.
A large tear prevents [wiping]: it is the extent of three of the smallest toes.
وينقضAnd nullifies المسح:wiping: كلevery ماwhat ينقضnullifies الوضوء.wuḍūʾ.
Wiping is nullified by everything that nullifies wuḍūʾ.
وينقضهAnd nullifies it أيضاً:also: مضيpassing المدّة.of the period.
It is also nullified by expiry of the period.
ونزعAnd removal إحدىof one القدمينof the two feet إلىto ساقleg الخفّ.of the sock.
Removing one foot up to the sock-leg.
ومتىAnd when بطلvoid المسحwiping بمضيby passing المدةof the period أوor بالنزع،by removal, كفىsuffices غسلwashing القدمين.the two feet.
Whenever wiping is void by expiry or removal, washing the feet suffices.
[المسح[Wiping علىon الجبيرة]the splint] ويمسحAnd he wipes الجبيرةthe splint وإنeven if شدَّهاhe bound it محدثاًin ḥadath ولاand not يتوقَّت.it is time-limited.
[Wiping on a splint] He may wipe the splint even if he bound it while in ḥadath, and it is not time-limited.
فإنSo if سقطتit fell عنfrom غيرwithout برء،healing, بقيremained المسح،wiping, وإنand if كانwas عنfrom برء،healing, بطل،void, وإنand if كانwas فيin الصلاةprayer استقبلها.he repeats it.
If it falls off without healing, wiping remains; if because of healing, it is void; if during prayer, he repeats it.
وعصابةAnd bandage الفَصْدof cupping ونحوهand the like إنif ضرّهit harms him حلّهاundoing it مسحَهاwiping it معwith فرجَتها.its slit.
A bandage for cupping (faṣd) and the like: if it harms him, undoing it and wiping it with its slit [is done].
