The Eid prayer is obligatory on everyone for whom Jumuʿa is obligatory.
ويسْتَحَبّand it is recommended يومَon the day of الفطرFiṭr أنto يَطْعَمَeat الإنسانone قبلbefore الصَّلاة،prayer, وفيand on الأَضحىAḍḥā بعدها،after it, ويغتسلَand he bathes فيهما،on both, ويتطيَّبَ،and he perfumes, ويَلْبَسَand he wears أحسنَbest ثيابه،his garments, ويتوجَّهand he sets out إلىto المصلَّىprayer place وهوwhilst he غيرnot مكبِّرsaying takbīr جَهراً،aloud, بخلافunlike الأَضحى،Aḍḥā, فإنَّهfor on it يكبِّرhe says takbīr فيهon it جَهراًaloud طولalong الطريق.the road.
On Eid al-Fiṭr it is recommended to eat before the prayer; on Eid al-Aḍḥā after it; to bathe and use perfume and wear one’s best; to go to the prayer place not saying takbīr aloud—unlike Eid al-Aḍḥā, for one says takbīr aloud along the way.
وصلاةand prayer الأَضحىAḍḥā كالفطر،like Fiṭr, ويستحبّand it is recommended تعجيلها.hastening it
Eid al-Aḍḥā is like Fiṭr; hastening it is recommended.
والوقوفand standing يومday عرفةʿArafāt فيin موضعa place آخرanother تشبهاًimitating بأهلpeople of عرفة،ʿArafāt, بدعة.an innovation.
Standing on ʿArafāt in another place imitating the people of ʿArafāt is an innovation.
وتكبيرand takbīr التشريقtashrīq أَوّلهits beginning بعدafter فجرFajr يومday عرفة،ʿArafāt, وآخرهand its end بعدafter عصرʿAṣr يومday النَّحر.Naḥr.
Takbīr al-tashrīq begins after Fajr on the day of ʿArafāt and ends after ʿAṣr on the day of slaughter.
وصفته:its wording: اللهAllāh أكبرis Greater اللهAllāh أكبرis Greater لاno إلهgod إلاexcept الله،Allāh, واللهand Allāh أكبرis Greater اللهAllāh أكبرis Greater وللهand for Allāh الحمدpraise مَرّةonce واحدةًone بعدafter الفرض.farḍ.
Its wording: “Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, lā ilāha illā Allāh, wa Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, wa lillāhi l-ḥamd”—once after each obligatory prayer.
وإنَّماonly يجبis obligatory علىon كلِّevery مقيمresident مصلٍّone praying فيin جماعةٍcongregation مستحبّةٍrecommended لاnot غير،else, ولاand not يكبِّرhe says takbīr بعدafter الوترWitr وصلاةand prayer العيد،Eid, ويكبِّرand he says takbīr بعدafter الجمعة،Jumuʿa, فإنso if تَرَكَomits الإمامthe imām التكبيرَtakbīr كَبَّرَsays takbīr المأموم.the follower
It is obligatory only on every resident praying in a recommended congregation—nothing more; one does not say takbīr after witr or the Eid prayer; one does after Jumuʿa; if the imām omits takbīr the follower says it.

Taking different routes on the Eid prayer is recommended.
