If witr is missed it is made up; not valid seated or mounted without excuse.
From Muḥammad: there is no specified supplication in it—thus in al-Muḥīṭ.
In Jāmiʿ al-Uṣūl: from ʿAlī that the Prophet used to say in his witr: “O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You; I cannot count praise of You; You are as You have praised Yourself.”
